The incident occurred in Kikopey, Gilgil, within Nakuru County, causing the trip to end abruptly and sadly.

"A trailer was chasing me and crashed into the matatu from behind, forcing my vehicle into another parked trailer beside the road. Several passengers were killed instantly. I can't precisely say what led to the crash since my matatu wasn't faulty. I was traveling at approximately 50 kilometers per hour," he stated.

Almasi noted that traffic was moving at a normal pace at the time of the incident, although one vehicle was parked along the road.

As per witnesses, the trailer that collided with the matatu was reportedly without braking functionality, a condition thought to have played a major role in the accident.

Advice from Great Rift Drivers to Other Drivers

"Due to that, it struck the shuttle and forced me into the car that was parked in front. Eyewitnesses mentioned that the driver who collided with us from behind got out of the truck and ran away right away. I didn’t see him at all. I'm still feeling unsettled," Shadrack added.

He mentioned that law enforcement personnel reached the location just after the event to verify the disaster, evaluate the circumstances, and initiate inquiries.

They also helped rescue those who survived and collect the remains of the dead, which were transported to various mortuaries.

"I apologize to the families who have lost their relatives. I also call upon drivers to comply with road rules and regulations. Not following these guidelines is among the factors contributing to the increasing number of road accidents. If all individuals followed traffic laws, incidents such as this might be prevented," he stated.

Roselyne Nangila:

O Lord, please safeguard our roads. Imagine losing both of my young school-going children, a boy and a girl, who were traveling from Nairobi to Bungoma. May the souls of my dear children and those involved in other accidents find eternal peace.

Mary Maina

This was terrible; may God safeguard us during our journey and offer solace to those who have lost their dear ones.

Solomon Kalu:

Soo painful ... six people were injured, not something to be taken lightly ... but before the dual carriageway, if you had the speed limit, at least you would have been able to stop properly and avoid crashing into the vehicle, which was parked near the old National Petrol Station.
