Plateau LG Boss Mourns After Seven Killed in Gunattack

At least seven individuals lost their lives when attackers targeted Bong Village, located in the Doemak District within the Qua'an-Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State on Friday.

Witnesses reported to our reporter in Jos on Saturday that the attackers conducted a door-by-door assault, focusing on women, children, and older individuals.

They characterized the assailants as well-equipped with weapons, whereas witnesses reported that most of the casualties were individuals who failed to flee promptly.

A resident from the local government area, Lawrence Dogari, verified the incident, stating, "At this moment, I can confirm that more than seven people have lost their lives, with several others still unaccounted for."

The Head of Media and Public Relations for the Executive Chairman of Qua'an-Pan Local Government Council, Danaan Sylvanus, additionally verified the event, noting that the precise death toll remains unknown for now.

"The head of the council, Christopher Audu Manship, denounces the assault on civilians and is working alongside security forces to make sure those responsible are apprehended," Sylvanus stated.

The spokesman for the state Police Command, Alabo Alfred, did not respond to several calls from our correspondent seeking comments on the attack.

The assault on Friday is part of a sequence of murders committed by armed individuals in villages across Plateau recently.

On Christmas Eve, armed attackers targeted the Bum community within the Jos South Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals.
